How to download the new Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade demo on Switch 2 and Xbox, what the Mako Reactor 1 chapter includes, and which bonuses and save data carry into the full January 2026 release.

A quick primer before Midgar arrives on new consoles

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade finally lands on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S on January 22, 2026, and Square Enix is letting new-platform players start early with a free demo. This guide explains how to get the demo on Switch 2 and Xbox, what content you can play, and exactly what progress and rewards carry over into the full game.

This is not another verdict on the remake. Think of it as a practical on-ramp so you can hit Midgar running the moment the full release goes live.

How to download the demo on Switch 2

On Switch 2, the demo is available as a free download from the Nintendo eShop, but there is also a direct code you can redeem in supported regions.

If you want to search for it manually, open the Switch 2 eShop on your console, go to the search tab and type “Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade Demo.” The listing you want is clearly marked as the demo version, not the full game. Select it from the results, open the product page, then choose the free download option to start the install.

In North America and Latin America, there is also a shortcut via a game-key style code. From the eShop’s main menu, choose the option to redeem a code, then enter:

D3GM3304HKQBB2VB

After you confirm, the system will register the Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade demo to your account and begin downloading it as long as you have enough storage space.

Once the download is complete, the demo icon will appear on your home screen like any other game. Launch it and you will be taken straight into the opening chapter setup without additional registration.

How to download the demo on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox PC

On Xbox, the demo is offered through the standard Microsoft Store listing and supports Xbox Play Anywhere, so the same license works across Xbox Series X|S and compatible Windows PCs tied to your Xbox account.

On console, press the Xbox button, open the Store, then search for “Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade Demo.” The demo has its own entry in the store, separate from pre-orders for the full game. Open that page and select the free “Get” button to add it to your library and begin the download.

If you prefer to queue it from a browser or mobile app, you can sign in with your Xbox account on the Microsoft Store site or Xbox app, search for the demo there and trigger the install to your Xbox or PC remotely. When the download finishes on your console or PC, just launch it from your library like any other installed title.

Because it is an Xbox Play Anywhere release, your save file will sync between Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC through your Xbox profile, which is useful if you want to sample performance on both before deciding where to play the full game.

What the demo actually lets you play

The Intergrade demo on Switch 2 and Xbox is focused on the iconic opening of Final Fantasy VII Remake. You are dropped into the first chapter, which covers the bombing mission on Mako Reactor 1 in Midgar.

This section introduces Cloud Strife working alongside Barret and the rest of Avalanche as they infiltrate a Shinra reactor. You will see the cinematic train intro, move through the industrial corridors of the facility, fight early Shinra troops and security units, and eventually confront the reactor’s boss encounter. It serves as a tutorial for the hybrid combat system, letting you experiment with basic attacks, abilities, magic and Limit Breaks, as well as swapping between party members.

The demo is self-contained and ends once the mission wraps up. There is no access to the Yuffie-focused Episode INTERmission or later Midgar chapters here. The idea is to give new-platform players a feel for performance, controls and combat pacing before committing to the full release.

Save data carryover into the full game

The most important detail for January 2026 is that your demo save file is not just a throwaway. On both Switch 2 and Xbox platforms, your demo progress can be imported into the full version of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade when it launches.

When you first start the full game on the same platform family and account, you will see an option to read demo save data. If it detects your clear data from the demo, you can carry over your settings and progression marker from that first chapter. This lets you skip replaying the opening reactor mission if you prefer to jump straight into the next story segment once you own the full game.

For Xbox players using Play Anywhere, your demo save will sync through your Xbox profile. That means you can try the demo on Series X|S, then pick up the full game on a Windows PC using the same account and still have your demo clear data recognized.

Demo bonuses that unlock in the full game

In addition to carrying over your cleared data, the demo grants a pair of in-game bonuses that become available in the full version. As long as you have created demo save data on your system before starting the retail release, you will be able to claim these rewards from within the full game.

The first bonus is a pair of Revival Earrings. This accessory automatically revives the wearer once if they are knocked out in battle, which can provide a margin of safety during early boss fights while you learn the rhythm of the combat system. It is particularly handy on higher difficulty settings or for players coming from more traditional turn-based RPGs.

The second bonus is a Survival Set. This is a small starter bundle of consumable items for early-game use, such as restorative potions and similar supplies, designed to give you a more comfortable opening stretch through Midgar. It will not trivialize the game, but it smooths out the first hours and lets you experiment with abilities without worrying as much about running dry on healing.

These bonuses are platform agnostic. Whether you play the demo on Switch 2 or Xbox Series X|S, as long as the full game can see your demo save on the same account and platform environment, you will be eligible to receive the Revival Earrings and Survival Set once you start the full release.

Why it is worth playing the demo even if you already know FFVII

If you previously played Final Fantasy VII Remake on PlayStation or PC, this demo is still a useful tool before double-dipping on Switch 2 or Xbox. The opening chapter is a controlled slice that lets you assess performance, graphics options and control latency on your new hardware without a purchase.

For Switch 2 owners, it is a chance to see how the reactor mission feels in handheld versus docked mode and how the new hardware handles dense effects and combat sequences. For Xbox players, you can compare Series X and Series S performance, or test the Windows PC build through Play Anywhere, before committing your playthrough to one device.

Because your demo progress and items carry into the full game, there is little downside. Treat it as both a compatibility test and the prologue to your January 22 run through Midgar.

Looking ahead to January 22, 2026

The demo is only a first taste of what Intergrade brings to Switch 2 and Xbox, but it sets you up neatly for launch. By the time the full game drops, you can have the opening mission finished, your bonus gear waiting in your inventory and a good sense of which platform and settings you prefer.

If you plan to start Cloud’s journey on Switch 2 or Xbox, downloading the demo now is the simplest way to be ready for day one. Clear the Mako Reactor 1 mission, hang onto your save, and you will be primed to continue the story without losing a step when Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade arrives in full.
